The challenge

ANACS’ existing DOS based inventory management application had too many short comings. Many of the screens did not provide the information they needed and had been designed with many layers of complexity for a windows based application. Programming in this environment proved challenging – one small change, for example, would impact other seemingly unrelated parts of the application. Reporting was another issue since data was not tracked at each stage of the process, making it difficult to know how many coins were in the system.

Our solution

After stabilizing the current application and providing much needed interface flow-through improvements, ProAce continued with enhancements to the ANACS coin application and improved overall efficiency. The ProAce team also helped in place bar code printing and scanning, leading to detailed inventory tracking and reporting that was previously unachievable.

About the Client

ANACS is the oldest coin grader in the United States. They have been providing coin condition information and certification since 1972. They are a subsidiary of Anderson Press Incorporated – a multi-billion dollar and privately-held niche publisher based in Atlanta, GA.

These improvements have substantially reduced the amount of time required to grade and package coins. They have also helped to improve the workflow for personnel handling the coins, and aided with locating specific coins in special situations. Customers have noticed improved updates on their coins status through automated email status updates. As a result help desk inquiry calls have been reduced and customer relations have been improved.
