Case Study: CyPower
The challenge
Norvell Electronics wished for a power supplies e-Commerce site that would cater to both the technically-driven engineers and the less tech savvy procurement purchasers. This vision was the impetus for launching CyPower, whose purpose was to undercut competition in the online sales arena of the power supply industry. Using Cypower, users would be able to research, compare, specify, and purchase power supplies—all from a singular e-Commerce web location.
Our solution
Cypower desired to implement an online technology formerly absent from the power supply industry that would set them apart from the competition. ProAce helped Cypower distinguish themselves through the development of a parametric search function allowing engineers to pare down thousands of power supplies to a few specific and relevant search results. Building from the ground up, it was necessary for ProAce to brush up on their knowledge of power supply logistics to understand specific software requirements and to make insights into potential innovations and user benefits. For instance, it was necessary to develop a software solution that would allow for up to four different AC/DC or DC/DC outputs and an ability to further refine searches after the initial volt and amp search input. This development dramatically increased speed and ease of purchasing decision for procurement department and has revolutionized the power supply industry.
The application also ties into their internal Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, allowing CyPower to integrate with other listing sites to drive traffic. Upon completion, Cypower received an e-Commerce platform with the power to compete with much larger competitors in the industry. We built this custom search engine/e-Commerce site in phases and we continue to add functionality as the client requests.
