About the Client- http://www.varsityworld.com
Varsity Media Group, Inc. is a "new media" company dedicated to teenagers worldwide. Since 1999, Varsity has been a pioneer in user created content and last year became the first programmer to broadcast it on mobile devices. Varsity has relationships with over 2,500 high schools and an extensive library of programming featuring sports series, reality shows, dramas, comedies, music shows, animation and films. Varsity brings together a unique combination of popular and synergistic Internet, mobile and television entertainment properties.
Business Challenge- VarsityWorld.com is a teen destination social portal with hundreds of thousands of unique members. It is akin to MySpace as a feature rich application offered through a web portal. Users can listen to music, watch streaming videos and chat online securely. Since Varsity World supports a media rich environment for their users they needed to develop back-end data structure/web services and front-end interfaces that support innovative means of presenting and searching for media, as well allowing users to customize their accounts while prioritizing web traffic through their server infrastructure.
How PROACE Helped- PROACE helped integrate .NET, AJAX, and SQL Server technologies as well as DHTML mechanisms to create a highly interactive social portal software. Users are able to interact using drag-and-drop functionality to change the look and feel of their homepage as well as friends lists. PROACE worked with Amazon.com to integrate Amazon Web Services into Varsity World for developing a high-end ecommerce shopping solution. PROACE was successful in providing a seamless user shopping experience on the Varsity site while backing on the strength of Amazon’s deep catalogue and existing shopping management systems.
